Your Feedback is important to me
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contacted me after reading my last article in the Spring issue to share your views on Ministerial vs. Committee systems of government. Both Deputy Rose Binet and I are interested in this topic and intend to explore it further.
Understanding your viewpoints is important for me to effectively represent you in the States. It enables me to advocate for your ideas and interests. For instance, at the request of some Constituents, I have recently reached out to some Commonwealth Parliamentary Association representatives from the Northern Territories of Canada, whom I met at last year’s AGM, to learn more about their Tidal Power installations. Additionally, I’m exploring the feasibility of getting water fountains installed at beach locations and in the Village, as suggested by a constituent.
One notable example of the impact of your engagement is a constituent who attended a Parish Surgery back in 2017, highlighting an injustice regarding an historic Foreshore Encroachment issue. Seven years later, after a Complaints Panel Hearing, a Scrutiny Hearing, a proposition and amendment, followed by two States Assembly debates, a new Policy, and four Infrastructure Ministers later, justice was finally served, and he received compensation!
So, please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding any matter.
